1  Scopep. 6

The present document specifies the NR Radio Link Control (RLC) protocol for the UE - NR radio interface.

2  Referencesp. 6

The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of the present document.
  • References are either specific (identified by date of publication, edition number, version number, etc.) or non-specific.
  • For a specific reference, subsequent revisions do not apply.
  • For a non-specific reference, the latest version applies. In the case of a reference to a 3GPP document (including a GSM document), a non-specific reference implicitly refers to the latest version of that document in the same Release as the present document.

3  Definitions, symbols and abbreviationsp. 6

3.1  Definitionsp. 6

For the purposes of the present document, the terms and definitions given in TR 21.905 and the following apply. A term defined in the present document takes precedence over the definition of the same term, if any, in TR 21.905.
Data field element:
An RLC SDU or an RLC SDU segment that is mapped to the Data field.
Delay-critical RLC SDU:
RLC SDU corresponding to a PDCP PDU indicated as delay-critical by PDCP (see TS 38.323).
NR sidelink communication:
AS functionality enabling at least V2X Communication as defined in TS 23.287 and ProSe communication (including ProSe non-Relay, UE-to-Network Relay and UE-to-UE Relay communication (including ProSe UE-to-UE Relay communication with integrated discovery)) as defined in TS 23.304, between two or more nearby UEs, using NR technology but not traversing any network node.
NR sidelink discovery:
AS functionality enabling ProSe non-Relay Discovery, ProSe UE-to-Network Relay discovery and ProSe UE-to-UE Relay discovery for Proximity based Services as defined in TS 23.304 between two or more nearby UEs, using NR technology but not traversing any network node.
RLC data volume:
The amount of data available for transmission in an RLC entity.
RLC SDU segment:
A segment of an RLC SDU.
