A 5G network is more complex than previous generations of mobile networks, which means that the need for automation is higher for 5G. This study is evaluating SON functions in previous generations of mobile networks and is studying new SON functions, both for RAN and the core network. The present document comprises the use cases, potential requirements and potential solutions of SON for mobile networks.
